My baby is 1

I'm sentimental today. It is absolutely amazing that it has been a year since Joseph's birth. I look back at that time and have such fond memories of his birth. Sure, the pain is not necessarily a good memory, but I do think it's true that moms have an incredible ability to forget that pain. That's not what I tend to remember about the whole experience, or any of my baby's birth days for that matter. The anticipation, the excitement, the relief, the love...that is what I like to remember.

I believe I went into full blown labor around 10:00 pm, December 12. That's when the midwives got to my house, at least. I think even at that point I was only dilated to around a 4 or 5, but the contractions weren't too bad yet. The labor wasn't too hard as long as I could walk around during the contractions. Cathy broke my water around 12 and by 12:05, December 13, he was here (after one long MEGA contraction...that one I do remember). My beautiful dark haired boy arrived (now he's not so dark anymore) weighing 8 lbs. 2 ounces. And our life has been blessed ever since.
